Italian excellence met at the Rivolto Military Airport with the event “Passioni Tricolori” organized by the Italian Air Force in collaboration with Automobili Lamborghini and Ducati.
Andrea Dovizioso together with Gigi Dall’Igna and the Official Lamborghini Racing Team driver Mirko Bortolotti could experience the thrill of aerobatic flying on Aermacchi 339 of the National Aerobatic Team: Frecce Tricolori.
During the event, the National Acrobatic Patrol has performed a training flight and Ducati riders Andrea Dovizioso and Michele Pirro, just back from the recent Misano GP, performed on their Desmosedici GP together with the drivers Lamborghini on the route that linked the airport.
In the afternoon, Dovizioso, together with Luigi Dall’Igna and the Lamborghini driver Mirko Bortolotti, were able to experience the thrill of aerobatic Frecce Tricolori on Aermacchi 339.
Andrea Dovizioso:
“It has been an extreme experience, really awesome which I’m glad I did, but I don’t think I will do it again very soon! You don’t realize how fast you are because you have no landmarks when you are so up high, I’ve been scared just when the plane stalled, then I heard the sounds from the equipment and I felt like in a movie such as “Huston, we have a problem”, then just silence and you start to fly down incredibly fast. Exciting. Then I felt sick being upside down, because the steer is really fast, you don’t expect it and for a moment I saw everything black.”
