After last Sunday’s race at Silverstone, Andrea Dovizioso is back on home ground in Italy again for the thirteenth round of the 2016 MotoGP World Championship. The Gran Premio TIM di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini will be held this weekend at the Misano World Circuit, the Adriatic Riviera track situated just down the motorway from Ducati headquarters at Borgo Panigale.
The Italian rider come straight to Misano off the back of a difficult British GP in which, due to right forearm pump half-way through the race, he was unable to get the result he had hoped for. Andrea should however be all fit to go for the San Marino round. Despite it being his ‘home’ race, Dovizioso has never actually stepped onto the podium at Misano in eight appearances in MotoGP since 2008, and his best result is fourth place, which he scored four times in 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2014. The Misano weekend programme gets underway on Friday morning with the first free practice session at 9.55 am, while the 28-lap race is scheduled for 2 pm on Sunday.
Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team #04) – 7th (89 points)
“It’s a pity about last Sunday, because we could have got a better result had it not been for the problem with my forearm, but I’m happy to get back on track again right away at Misano, where expectations are higher than Silverstone for sure. We did a test here at the end of August and, apart from the crash at the end of the day, we worked well and I feel confident, even though we’ll only find out during the weekend.”
