Andrea Dovizioso produced a great race for the Ducati Team in the British GP today at Silverstone to claim the final podium place in third. The Italian rider had a terrific scrap with his compatriot Danilo Petrucci, who finished runner-up in second.
The twelfth round of the season took place in heavy rain, which began to fall a few minutes before the start, forcing the Race Direction to begin a second starting procedure.
Dovizioso was unable to get good traction off the grid at the start and he finished the opening lap in eleventh place. The man from Forlì then began a splendid recovery through the field and, after passing Smith on lap 4, he latched onto the exhausts of Danilo Petrucci, who was very quick in the wet conditions. The two Ducati riders moved up to third and fourth, and after Marquez crashed out, they began a terrific scrap for the runner-up slot, swapping positions on numerous occasions. On lap 14 of 20 Dovizioso was forced to leave second place to Petrucci and then in the final laps had to keep Lorenzo at bay, so he concluded the British GP with his fifth podium finish of the year.
Thanks to today’s result Dovizioso is now back in fifth position in the overall standings with 120 points, ahead of Smith.

“I am really pleased with this third place and I want to say thanks to my team, because we are working so hard to try and get back to being competitive once again. Today was not an easy day for many reasons: we started from the fourth row of the grid and I almost crashed at the start because the rear tyre suddenly lost grip and I found myself at the back of the field. Despite this I succeeded in making a good recovery, even getting up into second place. It was a really tough race, and Petrucci and I had a great battle, so I’m also happy for his excellent result. In the final stages we were taking too many risks when we were passing and repassing each other, and seeing as it was important for us to get back onto the podium, in the end I concentrated on holding onto my third place.”

After the two rounds at Indianapolis and Brno, this weekend Andrea Dovizioso will be crossing the Channel for the third and final race in a busy month of August. The venue this time is the Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit for Sunday’s British GP, the twelfth round of the 2015 MotoGP World Championship.
Andrea Dovizioso has stepped onto the Silverstone podium twice, thanks to a second place finish he obtained in both 2010 and 2011. Last year, the Romagna-born racer finished fifth overall after qualifying on the front row.
The Ducati Team man comes to the UK off the back of a one-day test at Misano at the start of this week, aimed at preparing for the San Marino and Riviera di Rimini GP which takes place at the same track in mid-September. Monday’s test was conditioned by the rain that fell in the morning, but he was able to lap on a dry track surface in the afternoon, carrying out a series of useful back-to-back tests.
The Silverstone weekend programme will begin on Friday morning with the first free practice session at 10.55 CET while the 20-lap race is scheduled for Sunday at 14.00.

Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team #04) – 6th (104 points)
“Silverstone is one of my favourite circuits, it’s really beautiful and I am happy to go there for the race on Sunday. For sure I expect a lot from this race, but we still have to improve the feeling with the front before we can aim for a good result, especially because the top guys are in perfect form at the moment. I am however optimistic about the upcoming weekend in England.”

Andrea Dovizioso was classified sixth after holding on to fifth place until the final lap in the Czech Republic Grand Prix, round 11 of the 2015 MotoGP World Championship held at the Brno circuit.
Dovizioso powered away well at the start and crossed the line at the end of the opening lap in third place. The man from Forlì, who was then passed by Rossi on the following lap, held on to fourth place until lap 8, when he was overtaken by his teammate.
The Italian man then held on to fifth place until the final lap, during which he was passed by Pedrosa with just a few corners to go before the chequered flag.
In the Riders’ standings, Dovizioso is in sixth position with 104.

“I am quite satisfied with how the race went today because before the start I didn’t have a great feeling with my GP15 and I was quite some way off the race pace. However we must find out how to improve the front because the bike does not turn the way we would like it to: this is a big handicap because I am not able to push hard, and that is what happened to me today in the race. Next week we will be testing at Misano which will surely also be useful to try and solve these problems ”

Ducati Team rider had a good qualifying session today at the Automotodrom Brno finishing Q2 in sixth place fastest and so the Italian will start from the second row of the grid for Sunday’s Czech Republic Grand Prix at the Moravian circuit.
Dovizioso was ninth quickest in the morning’s last free practice session (FP3), taking his Ducati directly through into the all-important second and final qualifying session (Q2).
Following FP4, which ended with Dovizioso in fifth, he went out on track for the 15-minute qualifying dash., setting his best time on his second exit after fitting soft rear tyres to this Desmosedici GP15 machine.

Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team #05) – 1’55.935 (6th)
“I am pleased to finally get back onto the second row because it’s very important in view of tomorrow’s race. On my fast lap I made a mistake that did not allow me to improve on my time, but I am pleased with the position considering the feeling I have with my bike. I couldn’t push to the limit because I was not able to be smooth out there and so tomorrow morning we will have to try and further improve the set-up of my GP15. I feel it will be an unusual race, and we will have to see how hard it will be possible to push, especially in the corners. The top guys are maybe a bit too far away from us, but I still think we can have a good race.”

After concluding the first of three races in the month of August at Indianapolis, Dovi has now returned to Europe for the eleventh round of the 2015 MotoGP World Championship season at the Automotodrom Brno circuit in the Czech Republic.
In last year’s edition, the Ducati Team rider qualified on the front row, finishing the race in in sixth place.
The Brno weekend programme gets underway on Friday morning with the first free practice session at 09.55 CET, while the 22-lap race is scheduled for Sunday at 14.00 CET.

“The Brno race will be interesting because it will give us an idea of our competitive level, also on this track, which I consider to be fantastic and very special. I think that we should go a lot better than in the last few races and that the track will be more suitable for us, even though the overall situation is what we saw at Indianapolis. But we know that we have to continue to work hard to improve our form, and in any case, I hope that my negative streak in the last few races will come to an end soon!”

Andrea Dovizioso finished in ninth place in the Indianapolis Grand Prix, held on Sunday at the iconic Speedway circuit in the USA.
The race got underway under darkening skies and with a threat of rain, but luckily it stayed dry throughout the 27 laps. Andrea Dovizioso, who started from the fourth row with tenth quickest qualifying time, was forced to slow at Turn 2 immediately after the start to avoid a clash with Crutchlow, and he crossed the line at the end of lap 1 in 21st position. The Ducati Team man then began a superb recovery through the field that took him to ninth place by lap 17 and he held that position until the end.
In the overall standings Dovizioso is in sixth with 94 points, behind Smith. Ducati lie in third place in the Manufacturers’ standings, with 154 points.

Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team #04) – 9th
“At the start of the race I was unlucky to find myself in the wrong place at the wrong time at Turn 2. After a bad start I had to change my line to the outside of the corner: Crutchlow, in trying to avoid making contact with Smith, had to sit up and that forced me to go off the track in order to avoid him. It was a real pity because on this track in particular, starting from behind and recovering through the field is really difficult, because you cannot afford to be too aggressive. All things considered, my lap times in the race were not bad, but obviously we could have done better. I’ve had a lot of things happening to me over the last few races, so sooner or later the situation will have to change!”

After the second day of practice and qualifying for the Indianapolis GP which will be held Sunday at the legendary Motor Speedway, Andrea Dovizioso of the Ducati Team set tenth quickest time and will start Sunday’s tenth round of the MotoGP World Championship from row 4 of the grid.
During the third free practice session in the morning, Dovizioso, who did not have a perfect feeling with his Desmosedici GP15, was unable to improve on his FP2 time from Friday and had to take part in the first qualifying session (Q1) as he finished in eleventh place.
After the 30-minute FP4 session in the early afternoon, in which Dovizioso was ninth, Q1 got underway and here Dovizioso finished second behind Danilo Petrucci, thus guaranteeing himself a place in Q2.
In second qualifying, counting for the first four rows of the starting-grid line-up, Dovizioso had to settle for tenth place and a row 4 starting slot for Sunday’s race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

“Today was a really difficult day, starting from this morning when we lost virtually the entire session due to various problems and were unable to work well. Unfortunately when we use the soft tyre we always have a big vibration at the front and so I have never been able to push harder to obtain a better grid position. As for our race pace, we are not where we’d like to be, but we are in the second group, not so far behind the front guys, and so with a good start I feel sure I can make up some positions.”
