The final 2020 MotoGP preseason test concluded this evening at Losail, in Qatar. The same race venue, situated just a few kilometres away from the capital city of Doha, will host the opening Grand Prix of the new season in less than two weeks.
The last day for Andrea Dovizioso was mostly dedicated to making the final arrangements ahead of the upcoming race weekend. In the late afternoon, he headed back out on track together with hi team mate Danilo Petrucci to complete a long run that gave positive feedback.
Andrea Dovizioso ended the day with the tenth fastest time, in 1:54.312, closing in tenth position also in the combined classification of the three days.

“I am really satisfied with the work done today. We were able to try different setups that helped us understand that we still have some room left for improvement. The most positive aspect of today was the race simulation. With used tyres, I was able to cover the race distance without problems. On top of that, I did a few laps behind Danilo, which helped me to understand how to manage better the tyres. My race pace is good, and I am sure that if we can be fast as the front guys, then we will be able to fight for the top positions during the race weekend”.

The Italian Ducati Team rider was back in action again today at Losail in Qatar for the second of three days of the last Official MotoGP Test ahead of the 2020 season opener scheduled in less than two weeks at night at the same race venue.
Following the first positive feedback from yesterday, Andrea Dovizioso got back at work this afternoon resuming the development program of his Desmosedici GP20 bike.
With a total of 60 laps on his tally, Dovizioso ended the day in eighth position thanks to a fastest lap in 1:54.662, half a second faster than his personal best of yesterday. The rider from Forlì has declared to be satisfied with the progress made today as he was faster and closer to the top of the timesheets in a test day featured with a quick pace and no less than 13 riders closed in less than a second.

“I am happier compared to yesterday because we were able to move forward with a huge part of our testing program, and now we have a clearer idea about the situation. We are fast, and our pace is good, but so are our opponents. For sure there are details that we will be able to understand only during a race weekend, while in a test, as we are riding alone, we can only get an idea of on which area we need to focus in order to improve. Today we did a few consecutive laps to understand the effects on the tyre life. In general, I am satisfied, and now we will continue with our program also tomorrow”.

Completed the first official 2020 MotoGP test at Sepang in Malaysia two weeks ago, the Ducati Team rider was back in action today at Losail for the last three days of testing ahead of the start of the Championship, at the same race venue in Qatar in fifteen days.
Andrea Dovizioso closed in 11th position with a fastest lap in 1:55.308, only 0.654 seconds off his teammate. The rider from Forlì, who suffered a small crash at Turn 8 towards the end of the day, has declared to be satisfied with his first day of testing in Qatar, as he was able to find a good feeling with his Desmosedici GP20 and a solid base to continue his preparations for the opening MotoGP Grand Prix of the year.

“I am quite satisfied with today because we were able to find a good feeling with the bike, which was better than the one I had in Malaysia. We did a few tests, and all of them were positives. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to complete the program that we had for today, but in general, we had a good pace, and we were able to set the fastest lap time with a medium compound tyre that had already done seventeen laps. Shame only, that I had a small crash towards the end of the session, that didn’t allow us to complete an interesting test”.

More than 150 guests who participated in the premiere of the film “Andrea Dovizioso: Undaunted”, produced by Red Bull Media House under the direction of Paolo Novelli, presented today at the Deus Cafè in Milan.
Desmo Dovi recounted his experience and emotions in being in front of a camera for the first time as a protagonist. The docu tells the backstage of the whole 2019 season, the emotions, the victories and the defeats, the ingredients that make up a champion: intimate aspects that are hardly known.

“It was a special experience – said Andrea Dovizioso during the presentation – “The shooting has fascinated me because Paolo has always made me participate in every moment. He has effectively become part of the team and our family; he became one of ours, enough to give him a nickname: Pablo. Even if we are at the antipodes of character, I the engineer and, he the artist, we got in perfect harmony. I am convinced that this documentary will open new scenarios on the world of MotoGP “.

“I have been a fool to follow Dovi for a year”, added director Paolo Novelli, “An emotionally intense path, many joys that alternated with difficult moments. I think I brought out a real portrait of Andrea as a rider and as a man. Dovi has decided to show himself in all its aspects in front of my camera with the courage that distinguishes him. I wish that by watching this film, the spectators could have the feeling of having entered the intimate world of the riders during a race “.

The 21 February will therefore mark an important appointment not only for Dovi and Paolo Novelli, but for all MotoGP supporters, who will have the opportunity to peek behind the scenes of this exciting 2-wheel world.

The third and final day of first 2020 Official MotoGP Test has ended today at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia.
After a Friday that featured mixed track conditions due to the rain and a Saturday that welcomed on-track action under bright skies, the Ducati Team rider was able to take advantage of the dry conditions on Sunday until the final half-hour of free practices when the weather again deteriorated.
Andrea Dovizioso took it to the track just after 10 AM committing part of his test program to understand how to use the new Michelin tyres and working also on the ideal setup for his Desmosedici GP20 bike.
It has been a positive day for Dovizioso despite having ended the day just 14th and 15th overall at the end of the three days, he was able to finish only 0.510 seconds behind the pacesetter founding a good race pace in the mini long run (10 laps) that he did late this morning.

“I am quite satisfied with the work we have done today. This morning we were able to put in several laps, improving the bike setup and also my feeling with the new tyres. It had not been easy because I had to adapt my riding style, and I was struggling a lot with this in the beginning. Danilo and I did a few laps together: the pace was good, but the tyre performance dropped quite a lot. We still need to understand how they will work on a race distance and here in Sepang, where the conditions are peculiar due to the high temperatures, is really difficult to make a complete evaluation. Now we still have a test before the opening round of the season in Qatar. I am sure that the final classification of these three days doesn’t completely reflect what will happen in the Championship this year”.

After a first day heavily conditioned by unstable weather, Andrea Dovizioso was finally able to take full advantage of the 8 hours of free practice available, in which he found dry track conditions and acceptable temperatures, albeit as always very high.
Resumed the busy schedule in view of the first race of the 2020 season, which will be held in exactly one month in Qatar, the Italian rider has worked on different aspects of his Desmosedici GP20, in the meantime also improving the time trials recorded yesterday.
In the afternoon, Andrea Dovizioso crashed out at turn 6, which however did not significantly compromise his work schedule. The driver from Forlì closed on Saturday 15th in 1: 59.342.

“It was another very busy day. We were able to test several components including a new fairing while in the afternoon, due to a small fall, we were unable to finish all the work on the Desmosedici setup. I have a little pain in my hand and neck, but luckily we managed to carry on another important part of our program. Tomorrow I hope to improve physically and be able to make the most of the last day of testing. “

For Andrea Dovizioso, the day started a few minutes after 10 am this morning when the sky was still bright, and the track conditions were perfect to begin the demanding testing program. Eleventh before the lunch break, the Ducati Team rider was hoping to resume his work in the afternoon finding the same weather conditions. But a sudden downpour disturbed the program leaving just two more hours of dry track before the rain started to fall again a few minutes before the session end.

“It has been a hard day. We have introduced a few new items, and we had to focus more on certain aspects of the bike setup. We hope to be able to use our time better tomorrow and to concentrate on the rest of the program. We would like to work on the new rear tyres because we think that this is a fundamental aspect. We are trying to improve the riding style and the bike setup because we believe that these will help us to take the right advantage from the new solutions brought by Michelin”.

The most rapresentive of them is Pegasus (inspired by the mythological winget white horse Pegaso) who, thanks to his armour, turns indeed into a white robotic horse, rational and engineer as I am!
