Andrea Dovizioso was sixth at the Andalusia Grand Prix, which took place at Jerez Circuit today. The Ducati Team rider, who started from fourteenth on the grid, was able to recover some positions immediately in the early stages of the race as he moved to ninth place already after just three laps.

“It’s been a tough two weeks for us here in Jerez, but the good thing is that they have allowed us to gather useful information that we can analyze for the future. This morning we managed to find a good rhythm in the warm-up, but the conditions this afternoon were different. Also, in the race, I had a problem that I’d never had before during the weekend: in the middle of the corner, as soon as I let go of the brakes, I couldn’t feel the front, and it was like that from the first laps of the race. That’s why I couldn’t force too much, and I preferred to stay in the position I was without taking any risks. Surely if I had started closer to the front, I could have done better. Now we will have to be good at interpreting all the inputs received in these two weeks to prepare well for the race weekend in Brno”.

Andrea Dovizioso to start from fifth row at the Andalusia Grand Prix, scheduled for tomorrow in Jerez

The Ducati Team rider was back in action today at Jerez Circuit for the last two free practice sessions and the qualifying of the Andalusia Grand Prix.
It was a challenging day for Andrea Dovizioso, forced to take part in Q1 after having finished with the fourteenth time overall in FP3. The rider from Forlì was fourth in Q1 with the fastest time in 1:37.656, missing the access to Q2 by only 12 thousandths of a second. The Italian will start the race from the fifth row of the grid tomorrow, from the fourteenth position.

“These two days have been rather strange. We worked hard based on the data collected last weekend, and this allowed us to improve a lot the feeling with the bike and be more consistent as a race pace. Unfortunately, we are still not fast enough, and today we were not able to get into Q2. Starting from the back of the grid could be a limit for tomorrow’s race, but with a strong start we can still aim for a good result to try and get as many points as possible for the championship”.

Dovizioso tenth after the first day of free practices for the Grand Prix of Andalucia

The Ducati rider was back on track today in Jerez de la Frontera for the second Grand Prix of the 2020 MotoGP World Championship, which will be held this Sunday again at the Andalusian race track.
After the feedback collected last week at the same race venue during the first round of the season, Andrea Dovizioso spent today’s two sessions working on improving the setup of his Desmosedici GP 20 bike and thus increase his competitiveness for Sunday’s race.
On a day once again characterised by clear skies and very high temperatures of the asphalt, Dovizioso closed the two sessions with the tenth time overall in 1:37.739 thanks to the fastest time set during this morning FP1. Today, the rider from Forlì had worked on different setup configurations intending to improve the performance of his bike, especially in the middle of the corners.

“I am satisfied with the work we have done during Day 1. We managed to improve my feeling with the bike a lot, especially in braking and entering the corners, but still, I can’t be as smooth as I would like on the corner exit. Looking at the timesheets, we see that our rivals have also managed to make some progress compared to last weekend, so it will be important to continue to improve and find a good rhythm for the race. Tomorrow it will be crucial to do a good qualifying and be able to start from the first rows in the race.”

Dovizioso and the Ducati Team ready for another challenge in Jerez for the Grand Prix of Andalucia

Andrea Dovizioso’s third place last Sunday (his best result in MotoGP at Jerez) brought to five the third places obtained by Ducati on the Spanish circuit.
After the podium, the rider from Forlì is ready to face another challenging weekend, with very similar conditions on the track, and the temperature of the asphalt that could again exceed 50 degrees. Thanks to the data collected last Sunday in the race, Dovizioso is confident that he can improve his performance and is aiming for another important result in the second Grand Prix of the season.

Andrea Dovizioso climbed on the third step of the rostrum at Jerez de la Frontera, where the Spanish Grand Prix took place this weekend. In what was a very challenging GP, which put bikes and riders to the test due to the high temperatures, the Ducati Team rider was able to manage well his race strategy.
As he got off the line from the third row of the grid, Andrea put himself in the fifth position already after a few laps, finding a steady pace immediately. Fourth towards the end of the race, the rider from Forlì was able to defend himself from Morbidelli’s and Pol Espargaro’s attacks. Dovizioso managed then to fill in the gap on Jack Miller and, with two laps to go, he went past the Australian rider of the Pramac Racing Team claiming the third spot on the podium.
Dovizioso’s third place today represents his best result in the premier class at the Jerez Circuit, while for Ducati it is the fifth third place conquered at the Spanish race venue.

The Ducati Team rider took to the track today for the first two free practice sessions of the MotoGP Spanish Grand Prix, scheduled for this weekend at the Andalusian circuit of Jerez de la Frontera.
Andrea Dovizioso closed the first day with the fourth time overall, thanks to a fast lap in 1:37.471 posted with his Desmosedici GP bike during the morning session, when the asphalt temperatures had not yet exceeded the 50 degrees that were reached in the afternoon, allowing a quicker pace.

“Today went well! I am pleased because we were able to take a step further than Wednesday’s test, and that was our main goal for the day. We got very close to the fastest riders, and we also have a good pace ahead of Sunday’s race. The GP this Sunday will be very hard, and I still don’t feel completely comfortable on the bike, but we have several aspects that we need to work on, and for sure, we have room for improvements. In general, I am satisfied with this first day.”

Day of MotoGP pre-race testing in Jerez for Andrea Dovizioso

The Ducati Team rider finally got back in the saddle of the Desmosedici GP20 bike for a day of pre-race testing, ahead of the official start of the 2020 MotoGP season this weekend at the same circuit of Jerez de la Frontera.

For Dovizioso, recovering from a left collarbone injury, this test was also an opportunity to confirm his physical conditions, after being declared fit to participate in the Grand Prix during the medical check-up carried out at the circuit the day before.
The rider from Forlì, who finished 15th overall in 1:38.779, was satisfied with his first day in Jerez. In addition to being physically ready, Andrea and his team have been able to set the base on which they will work in the coming days ahead of Sunday’s race.

After the long forced break caused by the Coronavirus emergency, the MotoGP World Championship will finally kick off this weekend at the Spanish circuit of Jerez de la Frontera with the first Grand Prix of the 2020 season. The event, which will be held behind closed doors, will mark the end of the prolonged abstinence from track action for the two Ducati riders, which lasts from the pre-season testing in Qatar at the end of February.
