The WithU Yamaha RNF MotoGP Team leaves the eighth round of the 2022 MotoGP World Championship with mixed feelings, as Andrea Dovizioso could only try to get the best out of his home race.

Dovi didn’t play his cards well in Qualifying on Saturday. In mixed conditions he opted for rain tyres while most of his contenders went out on slicks. Therefore, he had to line up in P26 on home soil. Yet, he recovered some positions at the start, finishing the first lap in P23.
In the course of the 23 laps race, he kept his pace and benefited from DNFs in front.

The Italian eventually crossed the finish line in 20th position.

In just a few day’s time, the WithU Yamaha RNF MotoGP Team will be back in action for the ninth round of 2022 at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, in Spain.

“Today, I was struggling with the speed in the corners. I really didn’t have the pace from the first lap, so I couldn’t stay with the two Yamaha as that was the plan. I’m very disappointed with that. I couldn’t try the hard front tyre in the practice, maybe it was a bit better because they were using that. In any case, I was struggling for not being able to be faster in the way the Yamaha requests it, so it was far from ideal.”

After a hot and sunny opening day and a sunny morning, thunderstorms and drops of rain influenced proceedings at the Mugello Circuit on Saturday afternoon for the eighth round of the 2022 MotoGP World Championship.

Andrea Dovizioso struggled to make the right step in order to get closer to the top. The local hero, who has the strong desire to do well in front of his home crowd, improved on his fastest lap from Friday by 0.560 seconds but bet on the wrong horse in the latter parts of Qualifying one.
He remained on wet tyres, while the majority of riders was quicker on slicks.

Therefore, he ended up in P16 and will have to proof his home honor from the back of the field tomorrow when the red lights go out at 14:00 local time in the Tuscan hills.

“I didn’t put in a slick tyre at the end and it wasn’t the right decision. I couldn’t do anything. It was my mistake. We obviously can’t be happy, the position is really far back. Let’s see what we can do tomorrow in the race.”

It was a sunny start into the home Grand Prix for Andrea Dovizioso today at the picturesque Mugello circuit, which is a fans’ favorite. Throughout Friday, temperatures have been rising around the 5.2-kilometer track, making life tough for men and material.

The eighth round of the MotoGP World Championship 2022 is a special one for Dovizioso, who is returning to a circuit which bears many good memories for him. Unfortunately, day one didn’t reflect his own expectations.
Yet, he managed to improve his lap time from Free Practice one to Free Practice two by nearly half a second, but ended up in P22.

Dovi already has some ideas on how to improve in Free Practice three tomorrow morning at 09:55 local time ahead of Free Practice four and the all-important Qualifying sessions on Saturday afternoon.

“Overall, today has been a difficult Friday, but we tried something that might help us. Tomorrow we’ll double check again. The gap to the front is still big, but we will see if we can improve a little bit, also by comparing our data to the ones of the other Yamaha riders. On Saturday we definitely aim to make a step in the right direction.”

The Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello is the quintessence of passion in motorcycle racing and will be host of the eighth round of the 2022 MotoGP World Championship this weekend. The iconic venue north-east of Florence embedded in the beautiful countryside of Tuscany is a favorite for teams, riders and fans likewise and always spreads a special atmosphere.

For WithU Yamaha RNF MotoGP Team’s Andrea Dovizioso the Italian Grand Prix is even more unique and important. The Italian urgently wants to do well this weekend, where he celebrated a lot of success and even debuted in the 125cc class back in 2001. Following a difficult start of the season, Dovizioso aims to turn fortunes around on home soil.

Once again, he’ll have to tackle the 5.2-kilometer track for the first time aboard the Yamaha YZR-M1, but is excited to hit the tarmac once Free Practice one starts at 09.55 local time on Friday.

“Mugello is the most important race for all the Italian riders and the feeling to be there and to race there is always very special. Therefore, it will be important to make a good result. I expect a lot of people, so I’m sure it will be a wonderful weekend!”

More than 100,000 fans attended Le Mans this Sunday to celebrate an incredible MotoGP race day and support the riders. For the premier class race this afternoon, even the weather was well-disposed to the spectacle and delivered hot conditions at the famous Bugatti Circuit.

WithU Yamaha RNF MotoGP Team’s Andrea Dovizioso kept it clean at the start of the 27 laps French Grand Prix and lost two positions from the start to conclude the first lap in 22nd. Until the final laps, he managed to keep a consistent pace and benefited from some DNFs in front of him, which lift him up to P16 on the line, just missing out on the points scoring positions.

For WithU Yamaha RNF MotoGP Team, the next stop of the MotoGP World Championship is a special one, as the Italian Grand Prix in less than two weeks’ time means home race for Dovi.

“I expected much more from this weekend. I’m very disappointed but it just confirms that the way to ride this bike does not match the way I ride it. At this moment I’m not able to change all that, I’m very sorry and disappointed. We move on to Mugello and see what can be done”

The sun has been a consistent companion of the French Grand Prix weekend so far, although it wasn’t shining too bright for the WithU Yamaha RNF MotoGP Team today, as Andrea Dovizioso had a challenging Saturday at the traditional Bugatti Circuit in Le Mans, but still managed to improve.

Dovi could use this morning’s FP3 to fine-tune his Yamaha YZR-M1 and while doing so, he went 0.689 seconds faster than his personal best yesterday. Yet also the riders ahead of him went quicker, so he still finished in P20.
In Qualifying later on, he cut off another 0.229 seconds from his FP3 time, but ended up in 20th again, which means he’ll have to start tomorrow’s seventh round of 2022 from the seventh row if the grid.

The French Grand Prix on Sunday starts at 14:00 local time with a distance of 27 laps around the Bugatti Circuit and so far unclear weather predictions, that could play a major role in tomorrow’s outcome for the entire MotoGP field.

“We can’t be happy. I expected more in terms of speed and also of my lap time in Qualifying. We are in P20, because the speed is not good enough. I’m honestly disappointed, I was expecting more here in Le Mans. But when you analyze everything in the end, this is the outcome. When you can’t ride this bike like Fabio (Quartararo) because the characteristics of the machine are quite particular, this is what happens. To change that is difficult for me at the moment.”

The sun was upon the world-famous Bugatti Circuit for day one of proceedings at round seven of the 2022 MotoGP World Championship today. Yet, it was a rather tricky Friday for the WithU Yamaha RNF MotoGP Team rider Andrea Dovizioso, who concluded the first two Free Practices in P20.

Dovi started out well this morning and was losing just less than one second to the top, he managed to lower his lap time in FP2, but not quite enough to eventually miss out on the top 10 by 0.624 seconds. Andrea still went 0.200 seconds faster in the afternoon and now aims to find some solutions to improve his feeling tomorrow in Free Practice three.

Dovi is now already looking forward to Saturday, where he can try further ideas in Free Practice three at 09:55 local time and Free Practice four at 13:30 ahead of the two Qualifying sessions that start at 14:10.

“We tried a different setup, but I couldn’t improve my feeling. To be honest, I’m a bit frustrated. I need to do many different things and it feels like it’s a bit too much. It’s difficult for me to be closer, so the gap to the front is still the same like in the other rounds. I’m not happy about that, but we will work on details with the data to better understand and try to do something different. But it’s more about my way to ride, so I will be more focused on that.”

With the first six rounds in the books, the legendary Bugatti Circuit in Le Mans, France – a favorite for riders, teams and fans – will host the seventh race of the 2022 MotoGP World Championship season this weekend. While the weather is traditionally playing a major role in Le Mans, the forecast promises a sunny weekend so far.

Although he couldn’t score points last time out in Jerez, Spain, WithU Yamaha RNF MotoGP Team’s Andrea Dovizioso found some minor improvements throughout the official test on Monday at the same circuit in terms of setup and riding. Yet, Dovi is eager to arrive in France to implement what he learned during the test on the Grand Prix weekend.

The weekend will be classically opened with Free Practice one on Friday at 09:55 local time for the premier class, followed by the second session at 14:10 local time.

“Le Mans is a really good track for me. I always did well there and always had some good sensations. Therefore, I’m happy to go there and hope we’ll have good weather, which usually is not the case, but we stay optimistic. Overall, especially after the test in Jerez, I’m very excited to arrive in France this weekend for the seventh round of the season.”

Just one sleep after a pretty tricky sixth race of 2022 at the Circuito de Jerez-Àngel Nieto, Andrea Dovizioso has been back on track today in order to work on his performances in eight hours of the official IRTA test. Compared to the race weekend, conditions have been slightly fresher with a bit of wind and some clouds above the venue in the South of Spain, yet they could both use the full day of testing.

Dovi used the whole day to work on different settings and details aboard his Yamaha-YZR M1. Following the first six rounds, the Italian still didn’t find the best feeling with his new machine and knows that he needs to further adapt his riding style in order to achieve better results.
Andrea did a total of 66 laps around the 4.4-kilometer circuit and concluded the day with a fastest lap time of 1:38.179 minutes.

With more data collected and new inspirations for the upcoming 15 rounds of 2022, the WithU Yamaha RNF MotoGP Team heads home now and starts to prepare the next Grand Prix, that starts in just 10 days’ time at the traditional Bugatti Circuit in Le Mans, France.

“It was pretty good, although it’s always physically hard to do a test straight after a race weekend, but at the same time, it’s always important to do it at the same track, because you have the right references to understand what you can try. We didn’t have new material, but we had the chance to use the day to test several settings, whereas during the weekend we don’t have time for that. We tried some different things in terms of weight distribution and other things. In the end, I felt a bit better. The conditions have been different today though compared to the weekend, because there was more wind. Overall, I’m pretty satisfied with today.”

A sunny and well visited Circuit de Jerez-Ángel Nieto awaited teams and riders today for the sixth round of the 2022 MotoGP World Championship in the South of Spain. Yet, it turned out to be a difficult race day for WithU Yamaha RNF MotoGP Team, that was fighting hard to succeed.

Andrea Dovizioso launched the Spanish Grand Prix from P23 on the grid and crossed the line for the first time in P21. Like before, he struggled to find a rhythm in the initial laps, but did personal best times around half-way through the race, where he also found his way into the top 20 and even until P17. Although he fought hard to keep decent times, he started to drop a bit with 10 laps to go, but still managed to see the chequered flag in 17th.

Dovi is eager to test in Jerez tomorrow and move to the next round that will take place in Le Mans, in two weeks.

“I didn’t expect a good race, to be honest. I didn’t have strong front grip and I saw all the other riders around me struggling with that. It was very strange that nobody at all from the first lap straight braking in the middle of the corner and it was very difficult. It happened already in the past in Jerez, sometimes it is like this in the race. It’s very strange, but when you see the lap times from the front group you are a bit surprised because without the grip, this was impossible. It’s pretty bad, I expected to be able to push, but I couldn’t from the first lap. So, I just tried to survive and finish the race somehow.”
