The second day of MotoGP official testing at the Phillip Island circuit in Australia came to a close at a quarter to six today with Andrea Dovizioso lying in fifth place. The Ducati Team’s Italian rider completed a total of 55 laps, setting his best time of 1’29.483 on lap 32.

“Today was quite a positive day and I felt better on the bike than yesterday. We did several set-up tests, as scheduled, and we obtained some interesting results. There are some areas where we still need to work and we have to make the Desmosedici GP turn better, but today my times were quicker and we were all closer together. There wasn’t so much wind, the bike was a lot more stable and the set-up tests we did helped me to improve the feeling.”

The first day of official MotoGP testing at Phillip Island in Australia ended shortly before six o’clock today. At the end of the session, which was held in hot and sunny weather but with an increasingly strong wind during the afternoon, the Ducati Team rider Andrea Dovizioso was classified in eighth place.

“Today we concentrated on doing some tests with the chassis because we had to define several aspects, and we used up the entire day for this work. The feeling is quite good, but here at Phillip Island you feel the difference between lapping with the wings and without more than in Malaysia. We still have to improve the bike’s balance and set-up, and that’s scheduled for tomorrow, so then we’ll see what sort of times we can lap in, as everyone will surely make a further step forward.”

Three days of official MotoGP testing came to an end this afternoon at the Sepang circuit. All the riders were able to lap on a dry track until around 3 pm, when the showers that fell on some parts of the Malaysian circuit hampered track activity. The session got going again one hour later and continued until 6 pm, when the final session of these first 2017 winter tests came to a close.
Andrea Dovizioso set a time of 1’59.553, which put him third in today’s standings and fourth overall.
The next official MotoGP tests are scheduled for the Phillip Island circuit in Australia on 15th-17th February.

“I’m very satisfied with the work we have done in these tests, because despite the weather conditions, we were able to do all the scheduled tests and checks and gather important information for our development. I have a good feeling with my bike, better than last year, something I really didn’t expect, but back in the factory the engineers have really done a good job. We have a good base, but we still have to improve some of our characteristics, even though I am leaving Malaysia very happy. In a few days’ time there will be an important test at Phillip Island, which is a completely different circuit to Sepang, and our aim will be to also be competitive on that track.”
