Dovizioso closes in thirteenth position in the Grand Prix of Teruel at MotorLand Aragón.

Andrea Dovizioso, who started seventeenth, had managed to catch up a few positions joining the fight for the top ten in the second half of the race. However, in the final stages of the competition, the rider from Forlì was attacked by Aleix Espargaro at Turn 1 and, in the attempt to defend his position, he ended up going wide finishing in front of his teammate. As he was struggling with the rear tyre, Dovizioso couldn’t defend himself from Petrucci’s attack and, after dropping back into twelfth place, he was then overtaken also by Bradl during the last lap, ending the race thirteenth.

“We knew it was going to be a tough race and unfortunately, my feelings with the bike weren’t good. We didn’t have the speed to recover, and at the end, the soft tyre had a major drop, which prevented me from riding as I would have wanted. I struggled a lot and, especially in the last laps, I was also struggling with arm pump. Now we have to try to move on and start focusing already on the next three races that we have left.”

Difficult qualifying for Dovizioso who will start from the sixth row of the grid in the Teruel GP at MotorLand Aragón

Andrea Dovizioso will start from the sixth row of the grid at the Grand Prix of Teruel that will go underway tomorrow at the MotorLand Aragón circuit in Alcañiz, Spain. After closing the first three free practice sessions with the fourteenth time overall, the Ducati Team rider couldn’t go beyond the seventh time (1:47.747) in the Q1 session and, therefore, he will start from the seventeenth spot on the grid tomorrow.

Difficult first day of free practices for Dovizioso who ended the day eighteenth

Andrea Dovizioso couldn’t complete his work programme as some technical issues, and the wind hindered him. After closing with the eighteenth time overall in 1:49.240 today, the rider from Forlì will try his time attack during tomorrow’s FP3.

Dovizioso is ready for the Teruel GP at MotorLand Aragón

Just a few days after the Grand Prix of Aragón, which took place last Sunday in Alcañiz, the MotorLand Aragón race track gets ready to host the MotoGP World Championship once again for its eleventh round of the 2020 campaign. The event, named Grand Prix of Teruel, will take place this weekend and, once again, it will follow a slightly different program compared to the original schedule to allow the track asphalt to reach suitable temperatures during the early hours of the day.
The cold temperatures and the strong wind had indeed affected the first race weekend of Dovi, who had to work hard to understand how to manage well the tyres with the difficult conditions of the Spanish race track. Thanks to the data collected last weekend, he returns to the MotorLand Aragón circuit confident to be able to improve his performance.

“Thanks to the experience we made in last Sunday’s race at MotorLand, I think that during the next race weekend we will be able to aim for better results. Dovizioso closes the tenth round of the 2020 MotoGP season in seventh place, recovering from thirteenth on the grid

The first of two consecutive events scheduled for the 2020 MotoGP season at the MotorLand Aragón in Alcañiz, Spain, the Aragon GP, ended today with a solid seventh place for Andrea Dovizioso.
As he got off from thirteenth on the grid, the rider from Forlì had a great start and was able to make up five places after just a few corners. Eighth at the end of the first lap, Andrea tried immediately to close on the riders in front, managing to rejoin the fight for the sixth position. As he was able to catch up the Ducati bike Miller, Dovizioso finally overtook him with eight laps remaining, taking the seventh place, where he ultimately finished the race. Thanks to today’s result, the rider of the Bologna-based squad manages to keep himself in the fight for the title as he is now fourth in the standings just 15 points off the new leader Mir.

“Today we managed to achieve the best possible result considering that we were starting just thirteenth on the grid. Unfortunately, we did not have the speed to fight with the front riders, and maybe, with the highest temperatures compared to the last few days, the medium tyre didn’t behave exactly as we expected. Surely, now we have some data to work on ahead of the next race weekend, which will always be here in Aragón. We hope that the weather conditions will allow us to start working consistently, starting immediately from the first free practice session on Friday”.

Andrea Dovizioso misses the access to Q2 for only 15 thousandths and will be forced to start from the fifth row of the grid

Andrea Dovizioso will start from the thirteenth position on the grid in the race scheduled for tomorrow on the Spanish race track. As he was thirteenth at the end of FP3, after suffering a crash at Turn 6, which fortunately left with no physical consequences, the rider from Forlì was forced to take part in Q1 this afternoon. In the first qualifying session, however, Andrea couldn’t go beyond the third time in 1:47.752, missing the access to Q2 for 15 thousandths and getting to start from the fifth row of the grid tomorrow.

“I am disappointed about how today’s qualifying went. After a difficult start of the weekend, with even a crash this morning, we had finally managed to find our way to do a good weekend. I felt good in Q1, I had managed to make a good lap time, and I thought I could do just as well in Q2. I was able to find a good pace, but starting from the fifth row tomorrow will be a huge limit considering the drop that the tyres will surely have tomorrow in the race”.

Dovizioso closes thirteenth at the end of first day of free practices affected by the cold weather

The first two free practices sessions of the Aragon GP, scheduled this weekend at MotorLand Aragon in Alcañiz, were affected by low temperatures and cold wind, forcing the Race Direction to delay the start of FP1 this morning, to allow the asphalt to reach at least 12 degrees before welcoming the MotoGP riders on the track.
In FP1, characterized by several crashes, Andrea Dovizioso took to the track without pushing, leaving to the afternoon session his search for the best lap times. In FP2, with the temperatures of the tarmac reaching the 23 degrees, the Ducati Team rider was finally able to ride with the same conditions that he will find on Sunday in the race.
Seventeenth at the end of FP1, Andrea was able to improve his morning lap time by more than 2 seconds in the afternoon session, closing the day with the thirteenth time overall in 1:49.015.

“It was a pretty difficult day because of the cold weather and the strong wind. With our bikes, we struggle a bit to warm up the tyres with these cold temperatures. This morning we weren’t able to do much during the first session, while in the afternoon, we started our work ahead of Sunday’s race. Tomorrow the wind should calm down, and so we hope to be able to make good use of the time available to make further steps forward.”

Dovizioso returns to Spain for the tenth round of the 2020 MotoGP World Championship

After a solid weekend in France, which saw him finish fourth after a fierce battle for the victory with teammate Petrucci, Dovizioso is aiming to be equally incisive in the event scheduled in Spain. The goal will be to be able to add other important points for the championship standings, which after the race in Le Mans see him third just 18 points from the leader.

“We immediately moved forward after the race in Le Mans, and now we are already focused on the next two Grands Prix in Aragón, that will be crucial at this stage of the season. Last year I managed to get on the podium at MotorLand, and even if on paper we are not the favourites on this track, I am sure that we will also have some opportunities by using the strengths of our Desmosedici GP bike at its best. The championship is still open, and we have to keep working race after race to try to achieve our goal.”

Andrea Dovizioso ended fourth after a race spent fighting at the front, as he was held back by the tyre drop in the final stages.

It was a very challenging race, that was postponed after that the rain had started to fall only a few minutes before the start. As he got off from the sixth spot on the grid, from the second row, Andrea was able to take the second position immediately, and kept it for almost two-thirds of the race. Andrea Dovizioso, who was already suffering from the tyre wear, had Alex Márquez and Pol Espargaro closing in. Both riders managed to overtake him, pushing back Dovizioso into the fourth place where he then finished the race.

“I’m a bit disappointed because today I thought I could get a better result. Danilo was very fast, and he was riding really well. I managed to stay with him for most of the race, but at the end maybe, we paid for a wrong tyre choice. I was riding with soft tyre both at the front and the rear, and in the last laps, I couldn’t turn the bike properly. In these conditions, it is always difficult to make the correct choice, because you never know if the track will remain completely wet or if it will start to dry up in the end. Anyway, today we earned valuable points for the championship, and I am happy for Danilo’s victory. Now we’re already focusing on the next race in Aragón.”

Andrea Dovizioso will start from the second row of the grid thanks to the sixth-fastest time in qualifying for the ninth round of the 2020 season

Andrea Dovizioso, who took part directly in Q2 after finishing FP3 with the tenth time overall, will start from the sixth position on the grid in the ninth round of the 2020 MotoGP season. During the second session of qualifying, the rider from Forlì was able to make good use of the soft tyre stopping the clock under 1:32 on several occasions and finished with the sixth time 1:31.722, just 48 thousandths from his teammate.

“I am delighted with today’s qualifying. My feeling with the bike was excellent, and although I could not close a perfect lap, we got the start from the first two rows, which is always our main goal in qualifying. We still have to improve some aspects to make sure I can fight at the front for the duration of the race, but compared to other tracks my feeling is a lot better, and that’s why I am confident for tomorrow”.
